Zorenzo
Zorenzo Smith, AKA "Zorenzo" was born on March 31, 1983 and raised in Miami, Florida by his grandmother. Although his grandmother was his primary care taker, Zorenzo thanks his mom for introducing him to the love of his life.....Music. Hey says "I can remember when my mother use to turn the music up loud to drown out the sound of my excessive crying. At the tender age of four, I accidentally learned how to sing harmonies. I would just cry to the rhythm, beat, and pitch of the song", he says chuckling. Zorenzo quickly grew fond of R&B, Soul and Neyo Soul music. He began to study and mimic the work of R&B greats Anita Baker, Jodecy, R Kelly, Al Green and James Brown.
By the age of six, Zorenzo was sure that he was born to make music. Armed with the frustration of having an unstable relationship with his parents, gift of word play and a voice from heaven, Zorenzo began to make his own music. For fear of rejection, Zorenzo kept his musical affair secretly confined to his mind and heart. Until one day, Zorenzo was playing at a friends’ house, and his friends' mother happened to hear him singing a piece from a song he wrote. She was amazed and immediately began entering him in local talent showcases which he would always win. In his adolescent years, Zo grew out of his fear of rejection and decided to reveal the secret that he had hidden from his family for so long. At 15, Zorenzo called his grandmother serenaded her on her 50th birthday. She was in such disbelief, that she made him sing in front of her to make sure it was his voice that she heard on the phone. At 16 years old Zo's uncle gave him his first studio encounter. Recording two original songs "Don't Say Goodbye" and "Friend of Mine", Zorenzo heard his voice echoing from the speakers of a radio for the first time. "I felt like I was a star" hey says while smiling and shaking his head.
By the age of 18, Zo had inhaled so many different genres of music, that when he exhaled, everyone around him took note of his original style and sound. He began singing and writing more each day and eventually found himself touring and performing on the same stage with Kim Burrell, Tye Tribbett, Mario, Fat Joe, Neyo, Jagged Edge and Betty Wirght. Opening up for Trey Songs, Appearing on BET'S "Wrap it Up", 99Jams, and, Zorenzo is no stranger to the bright lights and interviews. But Zorenzo has only just begun; taking pride in his versatility as an artist, Zorenzo's goal is to Top the charts in every genre of music, win a Grammy and perform at the White House. Fueled with his uncanny lyrics, angelic voice and inhumane work ethic, Zorenzo Smith is destined to be one of the greatest male vocalists the world has ever seen.
